EaP Panel Meeting in Tbilisi

The meeting of the Eastern Partnership Panel for Migration and Asylum took place in Tbilisi, Georgia, on 20–21 March.

The event was dedicated to the issues of readmission, return and reintegration. Representatives of all states of the Eastern Partnership, 11 EU member states, European Commission as well as IOM, ICMPD, Migration Policy Centre and NGOs participated in the meeting.

Relevant initiatives implemented in the context of the Prague Process as well as outcomes of the 1st Thematic Workshop of the Pilot Project on Illegal Migration held in Warsaw, Poland, on 11–12 March, were presented by the PP TI Leading States – Poland and Hungary.

During the meeting i.a. the following issues were discussed: the EU Return Directive; question how to facilitate return through information actions and ensure effective readmission and reintegration; issue of human rights in return, readmission and reintegration processes; identification of undocumented migrants for the purpose of readmission; facilitation of assisted voluntary return and reintegration; and civil society’s involvement in reintegration.
