We have the pleasure to inform you that the Prague Process has introduced the regular update of the country factsheets, now featuring the latest migration-related trends and policy developments in Croatia, Latvia and Switzerland.
Here are a couple of highlights that offer a glimpse into recent developments. Explore the full version of the factsheets to review the detailed analysis and data.
Croatia: Shifting patterns
- In 2024, 70,391 persons immigrated to the country, including 13,290 returning Croatian nationals. Migration patterns have shifted in recent years: while most immigrants once came from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, growing numbers now arrive from Asia, mainly labour migrants from Nepal, India and the Philippines.
Latvia: Growing immigration
- In 2022, net migration turned positive for the first time in years, reaching 22,028, mainly due to reduced emigration and increased immigration, driven in large part by the arrival of refugees from Ukraine.
Switzerland: Steadily growing population
- Out of 9 million residents, nearly 2.5 million were foreigner nationals, the majority originating from EU/EFTA member states, with the largest groups from Italy (342,400), Germany (329,000), Portugal (257,300) and France (171,100).
All the factsheets can be accessed through the interactive map here.
The factsheets offer concise and valuable insights in the migration landscape of these countries, providing data from both national and international sources. They also highlight key developments in migration policies and legislation. While the national data is updated by the Secretariat and ICMPD colleagues as well as external experts, the data from international sources is refreshed automatically as it becomes available.
