Description

The main countries of destination are Russia, Israel, the USA, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland.  According to the 2014 official data of National Statistical Committee, the number of immigrants totalled 232,1 thousand persons, while the number of emigrants totalled 247,8 thousand persons. The balance of net migration totalled 15,7 thousand persons in 2014.  

The key policy instruments pertaining to migration are: 

  • 2009 Procedure of Entry and Exit for the Citizens of the Republic of Belarus
  • 2010 Law on “Legal status of foreign citizens and persons without citizenship“
  • 2010 Law on “External labour migration"

The Department of Citizenship and Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is responsible for the implementation of the national migration policy.
